PlatThix Silicone Thickener

PlatThix may be used to thicken higher viscosity PlatSil formulas for brush-on mold applications, patching and seaming skins, and brushed up skin applications.

Important! If you are thickening low viscosity systems such as PlatSil 71-11, 73-15, 73-20, or 73-25, we recommend using TinThix thickener as it is more concentrated and will turn even low viscosity silicones into a thick paste. TinThix is also preferrable for thickening the PlatSil Gel line of silicones. Silicones such as the new Gel-OO20 and Gel-OO30 must be thickened with TinThix.

TinThix in PlatSil Formulas

While TinThix contains the prefix "Tin", it does not contain any Tin catalyst or anything related to Tin Cure silicone. TinThix is a much more concentrated thickener than PlatThix thickener. PlatThix Thickener may be used with our higher viscosity PlatSil formulas as it is less concentrated than TinThix and may be used to create a light paste rather than a thick, trowel-able mix.

Important! Adding PlatThix to low viscosity silicones like 73-15 or PlatSil Gel-OO20 will have almost no thickening effect.
