Join us August 1st & 2nd for a 2 day class covering lifecasting, pouring an clay positive, sculpting an expression on a clay lifecast (eyes open etc.), mold making, and more! This will be a joint class featuring award winning makeup FX artist  Matthew Mungle and veteran sculptor Mike McCracken.

Day 1:

· Presentation on Mike's sculpting work in FX and fine art

· Casting a full head with the new Copy Cat BITY silicone face casting material

· Instruction on Clay Pouring and demold a head from the silicone face cast

· Cleaning up and re-sculpt of the head, opening eyes, texture, etc..

· Matthew Mungle will cover his approach for cleaning & molding a clay head cast/sculpt.

Day 2:

· Stages of Armature Construction

· Sculpting a Character Head Mask/Display head from a sketched design

· Sculpture techniques

· Molding the clay head sculpture

· Pouring up a silicone head

· Bonus! Sculpting appliances on a 1630 positive

Both days will start and 9am and go to ~5pm with a 1 hour break for lunch at 12pm.

As with previous Matthew Mungle workshops, attendees will take home a class workbook covering all of the processes with in-depth instructions as well as product samples to get started on your own project!

Mike McCracken Bio:

Michael Shawn McCracken, is a second-generation Sculptor and Special Makeup Effects Artist, living in Los Angeles. Michael began working professionally in the film industry while still attending high school, he has over 35 years’ experience in makeup effects for film, television, stage, and opera and has received 2 EMMY nominations and was honored with an EMMY certificate in 2010.
Michael learned sculpture and makeup effects from his father. Michael’s father was taught and mentored by the Academy award winning Makeup Artist, John Chambers. As a Makeup Effects Artist, John Chambers set the high standards for Makeup Effects and was instrumental in advancing the art of Makeup. Michael has continued in that proud tradition.
Additionally, for the past several years, Michael has taught classes in advanced prosthetics for the, Joe Blasco schools in Hollywood and Orlando Fl. As well at, M.T.I. International makeup school in Thailand and Makeup Designery in Los Angeles.
A notable accomplishment of which Michael is very proud of was being selected in an open competition within the industry to design and sculpt the, Makeup Artist and Hairstylist Guild Award. This award is given out by the Make-up Artist Union, honoring the top makeup artists and hair stylists from around the world for outstanding achievements in motion pictures, television, commercials and live theater.
Each year, 50 winners from around the world receive this award for outstanding achievements in both makeup and hair styling, additionally two special Lifetime Achievement Awards are handed out. Dick Smith and John Chambers are recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Award.

With over 250 film, television and theatrical projects to his credit, Matthew has earned worldwide recognition for his accomplishments in the industry of makeup effects illusion.As a child he was fascinated with prosthetic make-up and credits "THE7FACESOFDR. LAO" as his greatest influence in pursuing a career as a professional make-up artist.In 1978, Matthew applied and was accepted into Joe Blasco's Make-up Center in Hollywood, the premier academy responsible for launching the careers of many of the film and television industry's elite make-up artists. Matthew’s impressive list of film, television and theatrical credits includeBRAM STOKER'S DRACULA, earning him his first Oscar 1992,followed by a second nomination for“SCHINDLER'S LIST” in 1993,a third nomination in 1996 for “GHOSTS OF MISSISSIPPI”and a fourth nomination for his transformation of Glenn Close and Janet McTeer for “ALBERT NOBBSin 2011. Matthew’s career continued to draw industry recognition for television projects “SALEM”, “CSI”& “NCIS” and films “10 CLOVERFIELD LANE” & Terrence Malick’s“THE VOYAGE OF TIME” to name a few. Matthew’s first major theatrical work came with the Tony Award-Winning musical “WICKED”. He and his partner John E. Jackson founded W.M. Creations, Inc., a company which developed products for make-up artists. Matthew retired in 2016 and continues to educate and influence up-and-coming make-up artists worldwide
