PlatSil Gel-00 - All Kit Sizes
Important! If you are casting medical simulators or similar parts, we recommend Skin Cast OO30. It cures a to a similar softness but is lower in mixed viscosity, has a longer working time and is cheaper than Gel-00! This is, however, a different formula so try a small kit first if you are changing brands to ensure suitability for your process.
With inflation raising the PlatSil costs to insane levels, here is a list of cost-saving alternatives to Gel-10 and other PlatSil Gels:
Skin Cast OO50 (Same softness as Gel-10)
- Skin Cast OO30 (Same Softness As Gel-OO and Gel-OO30)
- Skin Cast OO10 (Softer than any of the PlatSil Gels)
- Skin Cast OOO5 (VERY Soft Gel for filling medical simulators such as bodies and breast forms. See product page for more info.)
PlatSil Gel-OO is a softer version to Polytek's industry-standard PlatSil Gel-10 product line. PlatSil Gel-OO is similar to Gel-10 in all respects except in its Shore hardness (or should we say softness). Gel-OO is measured on the Shore OO scale as a OO-30. It offers the same 1:1 mix ratio, 6 minute working time and 30 minute demold as Gel-10 and can be thickened with TinThix or PlatThix for brushing, slowed down for a longer working time with PlatSil 71R and, maybe most importantly, Gel-OO can be "deadened" with Smith's Theatrical Prosthetic Deadener".
PlatSil Gel-00 was developed for the FX industry for theatrical prosthetics and mask making in mind. Gel-00 is a translucent, stretchy platinum silicone skin material. Use for casting life-like appliances for special makeup effects. May be pigmented with silicone pigments and flocking (see additives).
Just like PlatSil Gel-10, Smith's Theatrical Prosthetic Deadener can be added to Gel-00 as well, but at a lower levels, to create the real look and feel of natural skin and tissue.
PlatSil Gel formulas are all "water-white-translucent" unless pigment is added. PlatSil Gels may be thickened with PlatThix or TinThix, slowed with 71/73R, accelerated with 71/73X, softened with Deadener, and even hardened with the new PlatSil Part H. You can find all of the additives and pigments for PlatSil Gels here.
